Massage Therapy is one of 23 regulated health
profession in Ontario under the Regulated Health Professions
Act (RHPA). In order for a therapist to be registered
under this act, they must attend and successfully completed 2200
hours of anatomy, physiology, pathology and hands on
treatments at a recognized school of massage therapy.
Then pass provincial examinations.
Massage Therapists treat conditions of the soft
tissues of the body such as muscles, tendons,
ligaments, and bursa. Through these, massage therapy
has a profound effect on the circulatory, nervous, digestive
and endocrine systems.
Massage therapy is a safe and natural choice in the treatment
and prevention of both acute and chronic
conditions. It was once believed that massage therapy
was only for the rich and used as a luxury. Now, it's
a fact, that massage is a vital component in rehabilitation
and prevention of injuries, chronic pain and general stress.
